Youth Build is a non-profit organization with a goal to unleash the positive energy of unemployed young adults to rebuild their communities and their own lives with a commitment to work, education, responsibility, and family.

Unemployed young people ages 18 to 24 acquire construction skills, complete their high school education, and receive leadership training and work ethics, while rehabilitating or constructing housing for low-income and homeless people in their communities. Participants spend alternate weeks on the job site and in school. The program also promotes involvement in a positive peer group and in the community.

There are 130 YouthBuild sites in 120 cities across 34 states. YouthBuild San Jose is one of 14 in California.

Please support YouthBuild with a grant, volunteer time, or tools. The current cost to outfit one trainee with the basic handtools required is $180.00, these items include tool bags, framing hammers, 25' tape measures, nail pullers, chalk lines, screwdrivers and utility knives. Some of the larger tools needed include Skilsaws, drills, screwguns and reciprocating saws. We have been applying for numerous grants in the $5000 to $7000 range, we have not been as successful as anticipated, and any monetary grants or donations are appreciated. We are a non-profit and any donations are tax deductible.
